Games coming back?

February 12, 2008

I used to play a lot of video games when I was young, in fact, I wanted my parents to buy me a Nintendo 64 instead of a PC, but in the end PC was the winner… followed by a N64 a year after. I always enjoyed playing with all those awesome games like Super Mario and co. Fact is that I became Mario Addicted, I have a massive collection of Mario merch in my home, and even here in the office I have one Mario-shaped waterpistol on my desk… pretty awkward. But, back to topic. I loved videogames in those times because they were easy to understand, and in the same time, they were challenging. But after a few years, the industry grew to a huge size, and populated by video game nerds, not all games like Super Mario were fun for the majority anymore. A huge line-up of hardcore games evolved, and you just couldn’t keep up with all the speed. Games became harder to understand, and they consumed more time from your life than ever before.

Today, I’m employed, I’ve got a job, and friends. I don’t have time for playing GTA, although I would love to. I enjoy hanging out with my friends more, than playing a massive storyline based singleplayer campaign. Probably this is why I’ve chosen Wii for myself. First of all, I’m a Nintendork… no matter what, my first home console was a Nintendo, and Mario is all around me. No way I’m going to switch to Sony or Microsoft. The other reason for my choice is the fun it delivers. My friends are not gamers, in fact they never were. They were that typical neighbourhood kid, who visits friends just to play a bit of Sonic on Sega Megadrive. These people can’t play games that are hard to understand, but Wii has absolutely no complex button mashing combo system (I mean… most of the games), it’s just about Joy! Seeing your boss getting ass kicked by a girl in WiiBox is priceless.

And in the End, you can say that most of the games suck. In fact, they do. But the thing is: Simplicity is Awesome here. WiiBox, WiiBowl… next big thing I’ll need is the WiiFit balance board. (And a copy of Guitar hero…)

Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii lol kthx bye

I hate Politics, But Huckabee is made of win

February 12, 2008

I’m not really into politics, I just know who I’m gonna vote for. I really hate when a national vote is near, because boring and sometimes pain in the ass ads flood the TVs and the streets, but when I see someone doing an Ad with Chuck Norris himself, I just have to laugh and click on replay over and over again. Huckabee won’t be president, that’s for sure, but I think he has the coolest campaign video of all time. And the bloopers are also pretty much like made of fun.

Grammy has come

February 12, 2008

I love award-shows, but the only things I usually care about are the MTV hosted celebrations and the Oscar ceremony. The Grammy was never a big deal for me, but I’m always interested in the winners. Sadly I’m usually dissapointed… it’s okay, because music is a very wide topic, and there has to be an award for all genre, so it can’t be always my favorite who wins. Anyways, let me check this years winners, and nominees.

Record of the Year Award gone to Amy Winehouse… well I have to tell that this is a real dissapointment for me. I have to admit, that she has talent and voice, but the woman can’t gain my sympathy… Foo Fighters were nominated, and althought “The Pretender” is not their best track, it’s still my Grammy Award winner. Unfortunately, accompanied by such ear-killer material like Umbrella and What goes on… Comes around, I’m already happy that they even got a nomination. Being there in a gang of boring-pop-shit is really rare for such a band.

Album of the Year ended up in the hands of Herbie Hancock, who probably has the coolest name ever… I mean… HERBIE HANCOCK? You’re kidding right? That’s an awesome name… like Mclovin! Anyways, the guy deserved it.

Other thing that catched my Eye: Best Male vocal performance… for Justin Timberlake? C’mon, the guy does the same songs all the time, Originality fails with him.

Best Electric Album is at its right place: The Chemical Brothers. Justice is also a good band, but the Bros are doing a much better job this time around.

Bruce Springsteen also got an award for Radio Nowhere, and although I think he had better times, this one is also a massive track, and a very enjoyable song. Justifiable

Best Hard Rock Performance… although not rock hard, but still pure greatness: Foo Fighters! (however, if there would be a Soft Rock Performance award, it should go to Queens of he Stone age for Make it wit chu)

Other awards didn’t really interest me, I’m happy for Foo Fighters and Chemical Brothers, but what I’m waiting for is another MTV award party. Those are really awesome with the hosts, and performers.

And here is my winner of 2008, Queens of the Stone age:
