Yes, I’m a fan of every material which was touched by the Apatow gang. Ever since the 40 year old virgin, I can’t wait to lay my hands on their stuff. They deliver some of the best comedies to date, and the newest addition to my collection, Superbad is no different.
So why is Superbad good anyways? It has like the lamest title of all… it’s superbad. And it’s about a bunch of losers who want to lose their virginity (“Yeah McLovin, how is it going with the ladies?- It’s not the “going” I’m worried about… but the “coming”). It’s full of things we haven’t seen before!!! Okay… enough of sarcasm. The main storyline is not what makes the movie great. The Dialogues and the characters do the job anyways, but this is applicable for most of the Apatow goodness.
The best part of superbad is the feeling of it. It feels real. The losers look “loserish”, and they are far better then the 20+ year old goodlookings from American Pie… although the Cops are far from the “real” feeling, they give a great twist to the whole thing too. The Scenes with Seth Rogen and Bill Hader are like the most twisted stuff you can get! (No wonder Seth Rogen is almost there at the top of my favorite comedians list)
Oh, and just to get back to the reality feeling of the movie: American Pie and all the other “I-want-to-have-sex” movies ended with the thing most people want to have: Sex… it’s no spoiler to say that Superbad has like the best ending so far.
Worth to watch, and worth to get this 9/10 movie… oh, and the scene with the “period-on-the-leg” is like the most disgusting yet funniest experience out there.
I’m not a huge fan of Ben Stiller, he did have some memorable moments back there but he also delivered some of the worst things ever (although he is still far from the Rob Schneider’s stuff… Rob Schneider is: A CARROT!).
